Spring time is one of my favorite parts of the year…It rejuvenates so many and sparks new growth all around us. It’s when I start my gardening, planning trips, handling a ton of day to day life on my porch, … Continue reading
Up until this point my home has been consumed with guests and Family during our deployment transition. It truly has been welcomed. The parents really came through to see G off and to see and the boys and I through … Continue reading
Ahhh, the sun and the warm tone of the weather suggests only one thing…Spring is Near!! I have so many ideas and things ahead for Spring…mainly taking Fall/Winter and eliminating all the chaos and drabness that came with it this past year. Pinterest has helped me keep the dream alive! I have continued to do my one craft/project a week and to my surprise, I have really missed that creative aspect in me…and I miss having a Hobby Lobby nearby but who matters. Some people are motivated when they go to the gym, or travel, or volunteer, or go to school, or work 8-5 jobs….I am truly motivated when creating awesome things! Anything from food, to art, to photos, to gardens, to spaces, to gifts, to home creations….I love it all. I used to spend so much more time doing these things….for whatever reason I’m not, it’s time to get back on track. I’ve got three projects on the burner with several other mini-time fillers to keep me on track. I can’t wait to share them with you guys! Until then, think about what motivates you and be your most awesome self! Don’t get complacent in your day to day…Spring Ahead!!!
P.S. Bring it on Pinterest 😉

My love and addiction for Pinterest has officially sent me over the edge with creativity, inspiration, and motivation to keep my crafty persona alive. I am tackling at least one Pinterest idea/project a week. (If you are just coming back from the Bermuda Triangle and have no idea what Pinterest is…check out my board, ask for an invite, and let the obsessive pinning of your future projects begin).
This week, I have a chosen an interview with my kids. I found a really fun 21 Questions type of ask-n-answer covering what a child thinks about their mother. It was super fun and pretty intriguing to see into the mind of what your child really thinks of you. If anyone was going to put it all out there, it was going to be Teage, Here is the breakdown of our sit down…lol. I am also attaching the video clip we did together…so you really see how this unfolded. He’s so funny.

Most of you already know that I am an avid volunteer under many different organizations. My track record shows success in every avenue I have approached. The majority of my time, I willingly give towards the Army and the schools. I choose this path of service due to two reasons. For one, I want to contribute to my livelihood and secondly, I am adamant about being a more active and available parent than not. It is MY choice. I am lucky to have such a choice, but it is still mine and one I would never change. So when I volunteer for something, I put my best efforts and resources into the task at hand…however, the minute my family needs me, it takes a quick second. Does that mean that I lack a good, quality work ethic? Definitely not. It is about the choice I made and the understanding that goes with that. I never look at my situation as a volunteer like, “Well, they don’t pay me”. That is already obvious. While I feel badly about having to “call in” when my family needs me instead, I do not feel like I should be treated unfavorably when the situation arises. Again, I say….This is my choice. Two days ago I was extended an offer for a “paying” job. A job that I have done for years without pay. I am struggling about going back to work because my choice still remains strong. I have plenty of years to work…but only a limited time of availability for my family when they might need me most. The pros and cons are equally overbearing to think about, but I feel like I need to stick by my guns. Once again, I feel I am having to choose between a career and my family…of which there is no comparison for me right now in my life. Hmmmm……
I know I know…I am horrible at keepin’ up with dailies!! I think this is the beauty and repercussion of being a SAHM and the only advocate for your own self-motivation. Not being held to daily deadlines gives me the opportunity to procrastinate (which can be fun), but I also like to look at it as an opportunity to take the time and do things right the first time. 😉
Anyway, Challenge 1 1 was “Landscape”. In Germany there are so many places to shoot a landscape. As a matter of fact, I have several photos in my gallery that are just that. But since I refuse to use any old shots, I decided to snap a piece of everyday landscape that is typically overlooked. Wildflowers and weeds are part of our daily landscape which registers mostly as a PITA…but, hunkering down, at eye level, looking through the tips of these outcasts can really be beautiful. See for yourselves…
Challenge 12 was the Portrait assignment. I toyed with doing a self-portrait…but I’m so critical when it comes to my photos as it is, let alone one of me. I find myself wrestling with how I can insta-thin my boobs and add a sunless tan. So I usually steer clear from driving the crazy bus and focus on others. This time I had planned on taking a shot of my niece, bc I am always cornering my kids to perform like monkeys and they’ve had enough!! After I took a couple random shots (the sun was not cooperating from where I was sitting), my attention was turned to the pup Harley. Harley is very statuesque. Her confidence is not only prevalent, but it is what photographers need to push portrait photos over the edge. So, there she was…sitting there not blinking an eye as I snapped. She knew what I was doing and gave me all she had. Thx Harley for being the perfect model!!
Glass Glass Glass…perfectly lined champagne flutes at the President’s Volunteer Ceremony where my hubby was one of three in the community to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award makes this challenge waaaay too easy!
