Harbor View

Today we have been celebrating G’s birthday and one of the things he wanted to do was to hit up the harbor. Sackets Harbor is the site of a battle in the War of 1812. The Navy posted here to assist in the halt of smuggling between northern New York and Canada along Lake Ontario and surrounding bays. It reminds me of what Maine would look like if I’d ever been. The historic part of the town is inundated with old old houses with wrap around porches, breweries, restaurants along the water, antique shops & boutiques, and street life. I can’t wait to get out there when season starts again. I think Gpa and I will head back out to the local bays with our cameras this week. But how cool is this scenery?!

There’s definitely more to come in the photo dept considering I only had my phone with me this time. Once we left there we headed back, but not without stopping at one of the many local wineries. Yellow Barn Winery had fabulous wine tastings and we each even scored souvenir glasses! Gpa was clearly enjoying himself…

Two bottles purchased later, we swept through the Amish Furniture shop….but dayum they had closed 10min prior. That wine held us back after all! Another blog post I feel will be necessary for this place….

Until next time, Toodles….
